# What You Need:

→ Turkey Patties

01 - 1.1 lbs ground turkey
02 - 1 small onion, finely chopped
03 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
04 - 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
05 - 1 tsp Dijon mustard
06 - 1 tsp salt
07 - ½ tsp black pepper
08 - 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)

→ Toppings & Assembly

09 - 4 whole wheat burger buns
10 - 4 slices Swiss cheese
11 - 1 ripe avocado, sliced
12 - 4 leaves romaine lettuce
13 - 1 medium tomato, sliced
14 - ¼ small red onion, thinly sliced (optional)
15 - 2 tbsp mayonnaise (optional)
16 - 2 tbsp ketchup (optional)

# How to Make It:

01 - In a large bowl, gently combine ground turkey, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper until just mixed.
02 - Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty approximately ¾ inch thick.
03 - Heat olive oil in a skillet or grill pan over medium heat. Cook the patties for 5 to 6 minutes per side, ensuring an internal temperature of 165°F is reached.
04 - During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese atop each patty and cover the pan to melt the cheese.
05 - Lightly toast the whole wheat burger buns to preference.
06 - On the bottom bun, spread mayonnaise and/or ketchup if desired. Layer with romaine lettuce, the turkey patty with melted Swiss cheese, tomato slices, avocado slices, and optionally red onion. Top with the bun lid.
07 - Serve immediately alongside preferred sides.

# Expert Hints:

01 -
  • The turkey stays incredibly juicy when you mix in just a touch of Worcestershire and mustard.
  • Avocado and Swiss cheese create this unexpectedly perfect creamy, savory balance.
  • It comes together in thirty minutes, making it ideal for weeknight dinners without the guilt.
02 -
  • Do not press down on the patties while they cook, it squeezes out all the juices and leaves them dry.
  • Make sure your pan is properly heated before adding the patties or they will stick and tear when you try to flip them.
  • Let the patties rest for a minute after cooking so the juices redistribute and every bite stays moist.
03 -
  • Chill the shaped patties in the fridge for 15 minutes before cooking, it helps them hold together beautifully.
  • Use a meat thermometer to check doneness instead of cutting into the patty and losing those precious juices.
  • Slice the avocado just before assembling so it stays bright green and doesn't brown.
